Which task types can be changed?

The mission builder allows certain task types to be changed to a different task type.  Applicable task types include:

Change a Multiple Choice Task

An existing Multiple Choice task can be changed to a Yes/No task or a Multiple Select task.

To change a Multiple Choice task to a Yes/No task, click on the task in the mission builder and navigate to the right-hand task configuration panel. In the task type dropdown, select Yes/No

A popup will appear to confirm the change. In the example above, N/A would be removed as an answer option and the task would only accept Yes or No as a response. To confirm the change, click Yes, Continue.

To change a Multiple Choice task to a Multiple Select task, choose Multiple Select from the Task Type dropdown.

This will preserve all existing answer options from the Multiple Choice task but will allow the mobile user to make more than one answer selection.

Change a Multiple Select Task

An existing Multiple Select task can be changed to a Multiple Choice task.

To change a Multiple Select task to a Multiple Choice task, click on the task in the mission builder and navigate to the right-hand task configuration panel. In the task type dropdown, select Multiple Choice.

This will preserve all existing answer options from the Multiple Choice task but will prevent the mobile user from making more than one answer selection.

Change a Yes/No Task

An existing Yes/No task can be changed to a Multiple Choice task.

To change a Yes/No task to a Multiple Choice task, click on the task in the mission builder and navigate to the right-hand task configuration panel. In the task type dropdown, select Multiple Choice.

This will automatically add Yes and No as the default Multiple Choice task answer options, but these values can be updated and additional choices can be added.

Note: When a task type is changed, all of the original task’s configuration settings will be preserved where applicable. For example, if an optional Yes/No task is changed to a Multiple Choice task, the Multiple Choice task will remain optional. If properties are assigned to a task whose type is being changed, property values will be maintained. If, however, a task type change reduces the total number of answer options available, existing conditional logic may be impacted. If a task is conditional on a value that no longer exists due to a task type change, be sure to update the condition.
